Learning through memorization is not learning. To be able to analyze, synthesize and apply new knowledge a person must first understand the concepts. I am a seasoned educator with experience in both the K-12 and adult education systems. I have taught in public schools at the elementary and secondary school levels, and in the adult education system preparing students for the GED, and I have tutored developmental Math at the college level. My certifications include special education and elementary education. I am very familiar with Common Core State Standards and the content of the new GED 2014 exam. I am as comfortable working with children as I am adults and I have all of my clearances, including child abuse and criminal background checks. My full-time position includes the responsibilities of supporting the growth and development of teachers. I have been fortunate enough to work on national reading research projects, so I also have a deep understanding of reading instruction, and am easily able to support those who struggle with reading.

Hobbies
I have two children (1 year and 11 years old) with whom I love spending all of my free time! I also enjoy reading and watching movies. I love my non-profit work, including taking my 11 year old to volunteer at the SPCA walking dogs! I also enjoy spending time with friends and family as we gather to eat, play games and just spend time together.
